Tall girls

Stretch, bean pole, stilts, legs, tall drink of water, and string bean where just a few of the names people have given you over the years.  Just because you were tall for a girl.  To you, your height was never a big deal.  Some people were just made that way.  But on occasion, small things would make you upset.

Like right now.  You were out with some friends, enjoying a nice day, when you all decided to go into a shoe shop.  Not really the kind of place you would normally go but one of your friends seemed really excited about the idea.  While you and your friends looked around, an employee came up and asked,
“Came I help you ladies find anything today?”  Your friends replied that they were just looking and the employee spoke again,
“Well, highheels are currently on sale and,” she looked right at you, “we also have a special on flats.”  she said and then walked away.  You watched as she walked away with a confused expression.  Your friends noticed and asked,
“Is something wrong, (Y/n)?”  You looked at them and shook your head.
“No, nothing is wrong.” you told them and they nodded.  The three of you continued looking around for a while and eventually both of your friends found a pair of shoes they really liked.  When you were about to follow them to the checkout area, a pair of high heels caught your eye.

Now, you weren’t a person who liked heels.  After all, they were one of the dumbest things ever created.  But this pair looked nice.  They were a simple (color) with a bow and the heel was only about two inches tall.  You couldn’t really remember the last time you bought and wore a pair of high heels so you decided, why not?  After finding your size, you picked them up and brought them to the checkout area.  When your friends saw them, they told you that they thought they looked really good and encouraged you to buy them.  When you set them on the counter, the cashier gave you a weird look but said nothing about it.
“Find everything okay?” the cashier said and you nodded.  After buying the shoes, one of your friends suggested going over to another store and before you could say anything, she was already rushing over.

The store was a clothing store that had a lot of graphic tees.  While sifting through the racks, you noticed a lot of something.  There were a lot of ‘short girl’ themed shirts but you couldn’t find any ‘tall girl’ shirts.  Not short and tall as in length of the shirt, but shirts that said things like: ‘short girls are the best’, ‘short girls give the best hugs’, and one that stuck out to you was one that read ‘every tall boy needs a short girl’.

Your friends noticed your displeased expression and spoke up.
“What’s up, (Y/n)?” one of them asked.  You looked over at her.
“Why do so many shirts glorify girls being short but no shirts do that with being tall?” you responded.  Your friends looked at each other.
“Maybe it’s because most people prefer short girls?” one suggested.  You were a bit taken aback by that.
“What do you mean?” you asked.
“Oh come on, (Y/n), I think it’s pretty obvious that most people prefer girls who are shorter.” they explained.
“Well, yeah, but I don’t think it’s really that many.” you argued and your friends laughed, thinking you were joking.
“We were just stating the obvious.  Just look at any picture of ‘cute couples’, the girl is always cute and short.  It doesn’t work with tall girls.”  they said and you felt uneasy.
“So what if the girl is taller?  The couple can still be cute.”  you argued and your friends looked at each other.
“Well, maybe sometimes, but more often than not it’s just awkward.  Now, let’s go back to shopping, this topic is kinda depressing.” she said and went back to looking at a clothing rack.  Though you knew they didn’t mean it, what they said did hurt a bit.  Your friends had a habit of not realising how much their words could hurt and this was one of those times they took it too far.

You spent the rest of your day with them being a little more quiet than usual.  Both of your friends just assumed you were tired and you prefered it that way.  That way you wouldn’t have to explain why you were upset.

When you got home later that day, the conversation was still on your mind.  You kept telling yourself that they didn’t mean it, because you knew they didn’t.  They just had a habit of talking out of their asses sometimes.

You entered the house through the kitchen door and set all the things you bought on the table.  You started going through the bags and pulled out the shoe box that contained the high heels.  You opened them and stared at them with an unsure expression.  Maybe you shouldn’t have gotten them.  As you were contemplating, you didn’t notice your boyfriend walk into the kitchen until you heard him speak,

“You home already?” Al asked as he looked from you to the clock.  You looked over at him and smiled the best you could.
“I was feeling tired of walking so I decided to come home.”  you explained and Al nodded.
“So what you all get?” he asked as he leaned on the door frame.  You looked down at the bag and shrugged.
“Just.. stuff.” you stated and put the cover back on the box.  Al looked at you skeptically.  Though he had a habit of being a little thick headed, he wasn’t stupid and he could tell you were upset about something.  You looked over at him and opened your mouth to say something but you second guessed yourself and turned away.  That caught Al’s attention right away and he walked up to you.

“Somethin’ bugging you, babe?”  you glanced at him before turning your attention back to the bags.
“Of course not!” you defended.  You forced yourself to smile buy Al saw right through it.
“I know you’re lying, babe.” he stated and crossed his arms.  You looked at him with a torn expression.  Should you tell him?  What would he think?  He’d probably just tell you you were being childish or something.  Al noticed you were having what seemed like an internal battle and walked over to you.  He wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you close.  You looked over at him and frowned.  You were eye to eye with him.  You knew if he were to take off his shoes, you’d probably be even taller than him.
“What’s wrong babe?  You know you can talk to me if something’s bugging you.” he assured.  With a deep breath, you asked,

“Does it bug you that I’m tall?”

Al blinked a couple times.  He didn’t expect you to ask that.  He always thought you were fine with your height.

“Of course it doesn’t.  Why would it?” he sounded genuinely surprised.
“Well, a lot of guys like short girls, and I thought that maybe you..” you trailed off.  You felt insecurities build in your chest.  You hated this.  You felt weak.  Of all things people could make a big deal out of, why did it have to be height?  You didn’t know what Al was thinking and part of you didn’t to know.
“Are you crazy?!”  he suddenly shouted, causing you to jump.
“You think I would give two shits about your height?!” he asked as if /you/ were the crazy one.
“Well, I just thought-” you didn’t really know what to say.  Al took a deep breath before calming down a bit.
“Why would you think I care about how tall you are?” he asked a bit more gently.  “Has someone been teasing you or some shit?  Cause I swear I’ll-”
“No!  No one has been teasing me!” you cut him off.
“It’s just.. You know, a lot of guys don’t like being in relationships with girls who are taller than them.  And I thought that maybe you.. That you..” you didn’t want to finish that sentence, and Al wouldn’t let you.
“Babe, who gives a shit what other guys like?  And you got nothin’ to be self conscious about!  You’re fine as hell!”  at this, you scoffed.
“I don’t think I’m ‘fine as hell’.” you muttered and Al frowned.
“Are you kidding me?  Every time you walk by me, I feel like my heart’s about to beat outta my chest!”  you blushed at the compliment and turned away from him.  He pulled you closer and you felt his hands travel to your behind.
“Not to mention you got legs that could make a man go crazy~” he whispered in your ear.  You felt your chest flutter and tried not to smile.

“But most of all, I love ya cause you’re you.”  he then pressed a soft kiss to your cheek and you felt like your heart was melting.  You wrapped your arms around his shoulder and hugged him as tightly as you could and he hugged you back just as much.  You felt your insecurities wash away and you stopped trying to fight the smile on your face.

“Now how about we go upstairs and you can model those new heels for me~?” Al proposed and you sighed

“Way to ruin a moment, Al.” you groaned but the smile on your face never left.

Al did have a way with words.  Too bad he had a way of ruining them as well.  But you still loved him.
Okay, so I am working on my naga France x Reader and it is coming along very slowly but surly.  the reason why I am uploading this is because I started this a while ago and never took the time to finish it but today I was hit with the inspiration to finish it so I yeah.  I'm also pretty okay with how this one turned out.  I don't see much love for Tall girls and though I myself am not really tall, I do think it is important we got more body types in xReader fanfics.  I think that after i finish working on my Naga France fanfic, i'm gonna try and do something with a skinny/androgynous reader.  don't know how long it will be before i can start working on that but whatever!

Hope y'all have a nice day!
