Puppy


Matt stared down at you with a stern expression while you kept a begging expression on your face.

“Please, Matt~?” you asked in a sweet voice.  Matt’s expression only hardened in an attempt to not give in.
“I said no.  We already have Kuma, we don’t have room for another pet.” he responded in a strict voice.  You puppy eyes increased tenfold and you held the small golden retriever up and leaned your head against his smaller one gently.  He little puppy stuck its tongue out and wagged its tail happily as it stared at Matt with innocent brown eyes.
“But, Maaatttt!” you whined.  Matt’s lip twitched and he turned his gaze.
“(Y/n), we can’t keep it.  What if it has an owner!” he argued and you pouted.
“First off, the puppy is not an ‘it’, the puppy is a ‘he’, and second, he doesn’t have a tag so that means he doesn’t have an owner!”
“Just because he doesn’t have a tag does not mean he doesn’t have an owner.  It might have just gotten lost.”
“...Well, if someone was careless enough to let this precious baby out of their sight, then they don’t deserve to have him!” you said and cuddled the puppy to your chest.  The puppy yipped happily and started to lick your chin.  You giggled and tried to hide your face but it seemed like the puppy was having none of that and kept trying to play.  Matt looked on and he tried his best not to crack a smile.  This was too cute.  You with a puppy was just too cute.  He brought a hand up and rubbed his face tiredly.  He really hoped he wouldn’t regret this but,

“You can keep the puppy, if you really want to.” he muttered grumpily.  You gasped happily and a giant smile spread across your face.  You held out the puppy so you could look him in the face.
“You hear that, little guy?  You’re part of the family!”  you said excitedly but Matt interjected,
“But if we find out he has owners who are looking for him, we are giving him back.” he said but you just nodded and continued baby talking the puppy.  Matt rolled his eyes at your actions.  You looked over at him, still smiling brightly.
“Want to hold him?” you asked.  With a sigh, he held out his hands and carefully took the puppy.  You could tell he was trying his best to look as uninterested as possible but a small smile slowly crept on his face.

That is, until a trickling sound was heard.  Matt’s expression went from peaceful, to confused, to horribly annoyed and he looked down at his shirt.

The puppy had peed on him.

You covered your mouth with your hands as you looked between Matt and the puppy.  Matt had an expression that just screamed ‘I am so done with this.’ and the puppy just continued to wag his tail happily.

“U-um, th-that means he likes you!” you said while laughing nervously.  Matt looked over at you with a blasé expression.  With a heavy sigh, he handed you the puppy and said,
“I’m going to take a shower and get changed.  After that, we’re going to get started on getting him potty trained.” he stated as he walked away.  Your face brightened up after he said that and you held the puppy up again.
“You hear that?  We’re gonna get you potty trained and we still have to figure out a name for you but- Ah!  He’s peeing again!”  you yell and hold the puppy away from you to avoid getting pee on your shirt as well.  You hear Matt’s rough laughter coming from down the hall and you hear him shout,

“That means he likes ya!”

You pout but then smile.
“Alright,first order of business is to get you, and the floor, cleaned up!” you said and pecked the puppy on the head.  You then set him down and went to go get some cleaning supplies.
‘Hopefully it doesn’t take too long to potty train you.’ you thought as you watched the chubby puppy chase after you.

Well, maybe you’ll have Matt handle the potty training.  He potty trained Kuma so a puppy shouldn’t be that big of a deal to him.
